Rottenness in Shakespeares Hamlet Essay - 971 Words

Denmark is a land wreaked by unnatural turmoil. From the opening scene we can infer that â€Å"something is rotten in the state of Denmark†. Throughout the play Shakespeare gives us insight into the inner rottenness of Denmark. In Claudius we see a deceptive, scheming politician and murderer. From his associate Polonius we see the unholy acts of sanctioned spying. Hamlet undermines the true Christian principles for which a â€Å"divine† King would have stood. Gertrude herself lends to the pervading atmosphere of distrust and uncertainty in Denmark. With only a month having passed between the point of the King’s burial and her remarriage to Claudius, Hamlet explores the callous indifference of a mother towards the feelings of a son, and†¦show more content†¦The Ghost’s moral ambiguity is revealed in greater depth during conversation with Hamlet. The Ghost of Old Hamlet seems to embody the dark state of Denmark when, instead of asking for pity, it asks for revenge – a morally dubious proposition, certainly by Christian standards. â€Å"Let not the royal bed of Denmark be/ A couch for luxury and damned incest.† The distinct imagery of the Ghost’s speech in Act I gives us some insight into the depths of corruption in Denmark. We are told in no uncertain terms of the â€Å"adulterate beast† that is Claudius. And so the rottenness in Denmark is further reinforced by calls for the murder of the King. Claudius is himself an embodiment of much of what is wrong in the state of Denmark. In his maiden speech to the court he says, â€Å"With mirth in funeral and with dirge in marriage.† Such equivocation and twisting of the natural order is common in Claudius, a character portrayed as being morally bankrupt. Some such as immense in size and strength as Hercules, some in the form of people that are shunned upon, such as Harriet Tubman, and some that are only valorous heroes to some, such as Kurt Cobain. These heroes have many characteristics that make people flock to their side and follow them without a thought of hesitation. In Sophocles Antigone the hero is a women that believes in her heart far stronger than that of her leaders rule. This brings up many characteristics that are shown within her that are also seen in other heroes. One being that she is up against an impossible enemy, one who does not fit well into societys mold, and is destroyed by her own pride. For these characteristics Antigone is given the title of an epic Heroin. Antigone is one of the lucky townsfolk to be born of a royal house, yet is unlucky to be born in the House that she is born into. As Antigone defies Creons law, she is cast into a pool of danger between what she believes is right and what the states law decrees is right. As Antigone is charged with the burying of her brother, an action which the King has declared unlawful, she holds like stone to her undying gratitude for her deceased brother. She holds to this thought because of the fact that she believes that her, who died fighting against the state, must be interred with the same honor as her brother who died defending the state. She believes that this will help lift the curse plagued on the household. The curse in which there father tried to hold at bay and failed. Her sister Ismene warned Antigone by exclaiming Sister please, please! remember how our father die: hated, in disgrace, wrapped in horror of himself, his own hand stabbing out his sight. And how his mother-wife in one, twisted off her earthly days with a cord. And thirdly how our two brothers in a single day each achieved for each a suicidal Nemesis (166). This has already gave Antigone the mind set that even the Gods are against her will. She is also up against a great foe in fighting that of Creons edict. Int Task 3-Toilet Paper Experiment Paper INT Task 3: Toilet Paper Absorbency Project Design Plan Problem Statement: Absorbency of toilet paper is found in many aspects when it comes to choosing the right toilet paper. When choosing toilet paper people base their decisions on many factors. Those factors include price, name brand, availability, quantity for the price, and even media deliverance (i. e. commercials) of toilet paper. Although these factors are of key importance, what about the absorbency of toilet paper? This experiment is conducted in the hopes of showing three different levels of absorbency. Testable Question: How does the saturation of three different brands of toilet paper compare? Literature Review: Based off two previous scientific experiments that were found, the results mirrored each other. Both experiments took multiple sheets of toilet paper and applied a controlled amount of liquid to each brand, in which the absorbency was recorded based off the brand. What was found is that the more expensive brand required less sheets to be used in terms of absorbency against the off brand toilet papers that were used in the experiments. It would appear that although the better toilet paper is more expensive, it is a better value due to having to use fewer sheets. (Dunbar, 2008) (Katwith6lives, 2010). Experimental Design The experiment will use three different brands of toilet paper. They are Charmin, White Cloud, and a local store brand paper. The experiment will start off by using fifteen sheets of each brand, that will be placed on top of saran wrap, and apply 3mL of green dyed water to each stack of toilet paper. If any water is present measurements will be taken using a syringe to show the amount of water that was left behind from the stacks of paper by suctioning up the excess water with the syringe and observing the measurement of unsaturated water, if no water is visible, or unable to take measurements due to lack of excessive water, the amount of sheets that became saturated will be recorded. This process will be repeated by reducing the amount of sheets in increments of five, allowing for three tests to be conducted (15, 10 and 5). All three brands of toilet paper measures 3inx3in per square. The reasoning behind choosing this experiment is simply based off of its simplicity. The steps taken in this experiment are easy enough for anyone of any age to conduct the same experiment in the hopes of different results, or to see the same results this experiment produced. The tools used for this experiment are as follows: Charmin toilet paper, White Cloud toilet paper, local store’s brand name toilet paper, syringe measured in increments of milliliters (using 3mL of water for each test), saran wrap to collect any liquid not absorbed by the toilet paper stacks and green food coloring to highlight the saturated and the unsaturated by the stacks of toilet paper used. The dependant variable is the reduction of toilet paper from fifteen, to ten and then finally to five sheets. The independent variable will be the amount of water used during each test run, which will be 3mL. Last, the controlled variable will be the amount of time used to test the level of saturation for each test run, which will be 15 seconds for each brand of toilet paper, a stop watch will be used to ensure accuracy. To reduce the threats to internal validity, the name brand will not sway the experiment and make the tester think the better brand will be the most absorbent. Each toilet paper stack will be treated as if they are all the same brand. Other factors that will not be considered are price, availability, softness of toilet paper or quantity within each package. Also, the outcome of each test run will not assumed due to previous test runs, that is, assuming that the toilet paper that performed best in terms of saturation in previous tests will perform at the same level. The controlled variable, which is the amount of time used during each test run, 15 seconds, will also help to validate each test. By ensuring that the same time is used each time, the level of saturated and unsaturated sheets can easily be measured by counting the sheets that were left saturated and unsaturated after each 15 second interval. The relationship between the independent variable, amount of water used, and the dependent variable, the reduction of toilet paper, gives this experiment the ability to easily show the saturation of each brand of toilet paper and well as the unsaturated aspect of each brand of toilet paper. Hypothesis: The absorbency of toilet paper must be in direct relation to the quality of such said toilet paper. The absorbency of toilet paper does not have any impact on price, name brand, availability or the amount of toilet paper used. This hypothesis was derived due to the outside influence consumers’ encounter from name brand, ord of mouth or media deliverance of toilet paper. It is predicted that Charmin would be the most absorbent in terms of saturation due to its thickness. Process of Data Collection: When beginning the experiment a large piece of saran wrap was taped on the counter and it was then sectioned of into three sections, one for Charmin, and another for White Cloud and th e remainder of the saran wrap for the local store’s name brand, then folded stacks of each brand in increments of fifteen sheets and placed them in their appropriate section. Unfortunately the White Cloud brand would rip and tear easily and the 2-ply sheets came apart from each other, which was not an issue present with the Charmin and Local Store Brand toilet papers’. **In terms of saturation for this experiment it is defined as the amount of sheets that will show visible green water. Unsaturated will be where there is no green water present. This will then be recorded and later shown in pie charts. * Upon setting up the experiment as shown above measurements of each toilet paper stack were taken. The measurements are as follows: Charmin: 1/2in. tall White Cloud: 1/4in. tall Local Store Brand: 3/4in. tall After setting up and taking measurements the experiment was ready to begin. The first test was with 15 sheets of each brand of toilet paper which was saturated with 3mL of green dyed water. Testing allow ed saturation to occur over a time frame of 15 seconds with use of a timer. The results are as follows: Charmin: No water or saturation present on the bottom of the stack. Ten sheets where fully saturated (completely wet) and five sheets were unsaturated (completely dry). This was measured by counting the saturated and unsaturated sheets. The last step of the experiment was to once again reduce the number of sheets for each stack by 5 sheets, now 5 sheets per toilet paper stack. The results are as follows: Charmin: Full saturation on the bottom of the stack, the saran wrap was moist, although no water to measure. All five sheets were saturated (completely wet). This was measured by counting the saturated and unsaturated sheets. White Cloud: Full saturation on the bottom of the stack, a small puddle of water was present on the saran wrap and the yellow ring presented itself again. Not enough water to measure. All five sheets were saturated (completely wet). This was measured by counting the saturated and unsaturated sheets. Local Store Brand: Full saturation was present on the bottom of the stack as well as a large puddle of water present on the saran wrap. Not enough water to measure. Number of sheets saturated were visibly observed, counted and recorded. The above methods in the experiment were used for a variety of reasons. The different amount of toilet paper used during each test run was to establish the amount of absorbency based on how many sheets were used during each test run. The green dyed water was used to easily identify the amount of water used and to highlight absorbency. The syringe which was used in increments of milliliters was used to ensure the amount of water that was used for each test run was the same to ensure accuracy. The Results: After completing the above experiment it would seem as though the best toilet paper in terms of saturation would be Charmin, in second would be the Local Store brand and in a distant third White Cloud. That ranking can still be considered accurate in terms of quality. The Charmin and Local Store brands held up better when removing from the roll and also stayed attach to be true 2-ply as advertised. White Cloud ripped apart from the roll and the 2-ply sheets came apart. Although there was not a measurable amount of water to be obtained after each test, the amount of sheets that were saturated and the sheets that were not saturated were visibly observed and recorded. In the first run in which 15 sheets of toilet paper were used, Charmin had 10 sheets saturated/5 sheets unsaturated; White Cloud had 13 sheets saturated/2 sheets unsaturated; Local Store brand had 13 sheets saturated/2 sheets unsaturated. The next test run was with the use of 10 sheets per toilet paper stack. Charmin had 7 sheets saturated/3 sheets unsaturated; White Cloud had 9 sheets saturated/ 1 sheet unsaturated; Local Store brand had 10 sheets saturated/ 0 unsaturated. The last and final test of 5 sheets per toilet paper stack showed the same result across the board with all 5 sheets of each brand saturated. The absorbency of each toilet paper stack was determined by the amount of paper in each stack. Charmin, the better brand in terms of softness and thickness outperformed the other two brands in terms of how much was saturated and what was left behind by the lack of saturation. Although expectations were for White Cloud to perform better than the Local Store brand it appeared to be quite the opposite. In fact White Cloud performed much worse than the Local Store brand did, at one point in the experiment the White Cloud brand even produced a â€Å"yellow ring† around the saturated area, something that did not occur with the other two brands. This experimental design was used due to its ease of others being able to follow up with this experiment, whether it is with different brands of toilet paper, different saturation methods or length of time used during saturation. The design plan was instrumental in this experiment due to being able to reference back to how the experiment was to be conducted as well as what I thought the outcome might be. Due to the control of all aspects used in this experiment, from the amount of toilet paper used for each test to the amount of water and time used to test saturation, replicating this experiment could easily be done. This experiment opens up other objects for easy testing by using the same materials, but just not toilet paper every time. In terms of validity, an experiment would need a testable hypothesis, the ability for statistical data and the end results that bring it back to the beginning when the hypothesis was first rendered. This experiment did just that. A hypothesis was formed on the quality of toilet paper in terms of saturation, that hypothesis was tested through numerous test runs which was then followed up with data and in the end the results led back to the hypothesis. To understand which brand of toilet paper was superior the test had to be conducted in such a way that the amount of sheets were reduced during each test run and then the amount of sheets were measured in terms of sheets that ere saturated and sheets that were left unsaturated, doing this allowed the tester to see which brand of toilet paper had the best saturated and unsaturated results compared to the other two brands used. Why Should High and Low Scorers Prepare Differently for the ACT? Skip the Hardest Questions As someone who’s still scoring low on the ACT, you should focus on questions you know you can answer reliably.You want to avoid spending too much time on hard questions and missing out on easy questions later on in the section.This means training yourself to skip any questions that you spend more than 30 seconds trying to figure out without success.There is no point in spending excessive amounts of time on questions that may not earn you any points! You should always make a first pass through each section and answer all of the easy questions first. Then, if you have time left, you can circle back to the beginning of the section and work on more difficult questions. This will allow you to spend as much time as you need on hard questions without sacrificing any points or stressing out about making it to the end before time runs out. Change Up Your Reading Method The Reading section on the ACT is where low scorers can run into a lot of issues with time. Most of the questions aren't too complex, but there's so much to read that students often find themselves rushing on the last passage or not getting to it at all. If you have this problem as a low scorer, I would recommend that you reevaluate how you're reading passages on the test. It's a natural tendency for students to read the passages closely because that's how they've been taught to read in school. However, this isn't the best method to use on the test, especially if you're having problems with time. You should try skimming the passage quickly and then answering as many questions as possible. You can read in more detail based on the questions you're asked, but you won't necessarily have to read every single word of the passage. You might also try skipping the passage entirely at first and heading straight for the questions. You can read certain sections of the passage to answer detail questions and then do a quick skim later if you're having trouble with big picture questions without a full read through. Try these methods on practice tests and see which one works best for you. You might also decide to read the passages in a specific order based on which type of subject matter is your strong point. For example, if you're more interested in science, you might skip to the end of the reading section right away and read the natural sciences passage first. This way, you ensure that you have the best shot of answering questions that are easier for you without being in a rush. This will maximize the points you earn on the section as a whole. This is most prevalent in the math section, where many different concepts are tested, some of which you may have learned about a while ago and forgotten. If you're not clear on what exactly is tested on the math section, read this article that goes through all the main concepts.The ACT also doesn't provide students with formulas in the math section. If you're struggling in this area, take a look at this list of all the formulas you need to know for the ACT. Depending on the specific issues you're facing, you might use your class notes, textbook, or an ACT review book to brush up on your knowledge. As you go through practice tests results, notice the types of content errors you make most frequently and focus your studying on those areas. We have a bunch of different articles that review specific content areas on the ACT math section, including lines and slopes, angles, sequences, algebra functions, and many more.Once you feel more confident, you can go back and do some relevant practice questions to verify that you understand the material. Prevent Question Misunderstandings Question misunderstandings are a common problem for low scorers, although they may be less of an issue on the ACT than the SAT. If you zero in on key words instead, you may be surprised to see that the questions aren't all that complicated, and all the extra numbers and scientific facts are just there as filler. On the Math section, students sometimes make the mistake of solving for a value that is relevant to the question but isn't the actual answer. Underlining what the question is asking for can help you to avoid these types of misunderstandings as well. Don't get distracted by information that's unrelated to the task at hand. Also, I can't even imagine what kind of insane person would text and drive with a flip phone. Strategies Low ACT Scorers Should Avoid There are also some strategies that work well for high scorers but shouldn't be a part of yourtest-taking methods or preparation if you have low ACT scores. Once you fix your more fundamental problems and raise your scores a little more, you might consider using these strategies, but they can hurt you if you're currently in the low scorer range. Focusing Too Much on Careless Mistakes Of course, low scorers can still make careless mistakes, but they're not nearly as common. If you're scoring low, most of your mistakes will not be careless - they will be because you're running out of time or struggling with understanding the questions. Try not to focus too much on these types of mistakes before you fix your other problem areas. Often, you will find that you make fewer careless mistakes as you start to remedy your deeper issues with content and time. As you start to score higher and you find that a larger proportion of your mistakes are "careless," you can begin working on reading more carefully and preventing yourself from rushing. Save this for when you're consistently scoring closer to the high scorer range so that you don't ignore more pressing issues for superficial mistakes. Trying to Answer Every Question Correctly On the ACT, since there's no penalty for incorrect answers, you should always answer every question in each section (even if your answer ends up being a blind guess). However, if you're a low scorer, you shouldn't put too much pressure on yourself to figure out difficult questions. As I said earlier, you should immediately skip any question that you can't figure out within 30 seconds so that you make it through all the easy questions in each section before time runs out. If you're not making progress on a difficult question, don't stress yourself out about it. As a low scorer, you don't have to worry too much about the hardest subset of questions on the test. You're not aiming for perfection or close to perfection (at least not yet) so getting wound up about hard questions is only going to exacerbate your anxiety and potentially hurt your scores. If you know you can't figure something out, just take a random guess and focus more on questions that are manageable and have a greater likelihood of earning you points. If you get stressed out, remember this and you might feel better. Then again, it might just remind you of that one annoying older relative who clearly spends too much money in terrible gift shops. Despairing Companionship Essay â€Å"Modern Love,† a poetic sequence by George Meredith, describes a skeptical opinion on the idea of modern love. Meredith’s devastating tone, complex similes and metaphors, and dark imagery convey a sad and regretful outlook on the love of this time. â€Å"Modern Love† is riddled with a tone full of regret and heartache, making this modern love seem more like the opposite of love. The speaker says â€Å"she wept with waking eyes† and her â€Å"strange low sobs† were â€Å"strangled mute.† The words describing this woman are full of grief, full of â€Å"vain regret. † Her husband is painfully aware of his wife’s sadness, through her reaction to â€Å"his hand’s light quiver by her head† and her sobs that were â€Å"dreadfully venomous to him.† The speaker’s worried tone shows how much the husband wishes for his wife to be happy, but his actions of loving care and cautiousness do nothing to quell her tears. This makes modern love seem hopeless and full of despair for both the man and his distraught wife. Use of intense simile and metaphor throughout â€Å"Modern Love† also demonstrates a grim view on the concept of modern love. The muffled cries of the wife are called â€Å"little gaping snakes† showing how afraid and vulnerable the husband is to them. The man’s wife has a â€Å"Giant heart of Memory and Tears† which shows the heavy, almost useless organ that the wife carries around within her, empty of love, only able to remember the sadness to which she has been subjected to. Then, the husband and wife are said to be â€Å"like sculpture effigies† in their â€Å"common bed,† lying â€Å"stone-still.† Instead of two lovers talking to each other and loving each other in their bed, a place shared between the two of them, they are â€Å"moveless† and silent. This makes modern love seem empty of joy, empty of companionship, and devoid of love. â€Å"Modern Love† also utilizes imagery to portray the sadness and tension of modern love. The wife is described as lying â€Å"stone-still.† They are both â€Å"moveless† as they look back through their â€Å"dead black years.† Their life is described as â€Å"black,† which provides the image of nothingness, as if there is no memory worth seeing. Their modern love provides no light with which their lives might be made happy. They are seen as â€Å"sculptured effigies,† wishing for the â€Å"sword that severs all.† Instead of wishing for a good relationship or positive time together, they want something to end their marriage, to end the one thing that ties them together. This modern love is not love at all, but a forced binding between two people who want nothing of it. The poetic sequence â€Å"Modern Love† by George Meredith conveys a dark and regretful view of modern love through heartbreaking tone, deep similes and metaphors, and intense imagery.

As the leader and Clytemnestra exchange information about the fall of Troy, we see that she is very quick to anger by his words ("sends you into raptures" "No one takes me with visions" 274-5). Whether the Chorus is being rude or she is merely quick to offend is in the balance. The Chorus after all don't regard her beacons very highly ("real of just a dream" 481). I would argue though, that it is Clytemnestra who is looking for any sign of disloyalty in them even if there is little to see ("we're loyal... never blame your silence" 263). Her recount of the beacon relay to bring her word of the fall of Troy is told in arrogant ostentatious fashion ("my commands.

Chandragupta Maurya (born 340 BCE, ruled 320 BCE – 298 BCE) was the founder of the Maurya Empire. He succeeded in conquering most of the Indian subcontinent and is considered the first unifier of India as well as its first genuine emperor. Prior to Chandragupta’s consolidation of power, small regional kingdoms dominated the northwestern subcontinent, while the Nanda Dynasty dominated the middle and lower basin of the Ganges. After Chandragupt’s conquests, the Maurya Empire extended from Bengal and Assam in the east, to Afghanistan and Balochistan in the west, to Kashmir and Nepal in the north, and to the Deccan Plateau in the south. His achievements, which ranged from conquering Macedonian satrapies in the northwest and conquering the Nanda Empire by the time he was only about 20 years old, to achieving an alliance with Seleucus I Nicator and establishing centralized rule throughout South Asia, remain some of the most celebrated in the history of India. One of India’s greatest emperors, Ashoka reigned over most of present-day India after a number of military conquests. His empire stretched from present-day Pakistan and Afghanistan in the west, to the present-day Bangladesh and the Indian state of Assam in the east, and as far south as northern Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. He conquered the kingdom named Kalinga, which no one in his dynasty had conquered starting from Chandragupta Maurya. His reign was headquartered in Magadha . He embraced Buddhism from the prevalent Hindu tradition after witnessing the mass deaths of the war of Kalinga, which he himself had waged out of a desire for conquest. He was later dedicated to the propagation of Buddhism across Asia and established monuments marking several significant sites in the life of Gautama Buddha. Ashoka was a devotee of ahimsa (nonviolence), love, truth, tolerance and vegetarianism. Ashoka is remembered in history as a philanthropic administrator. In the history of India, Ashoka is referred to as Samraat Chakravartin Ashoka – the Emperor of Emperors Ashoka . His rapidity, and talent for composing, earned Jaco, the title the greatest bass player in the world. Jaco was born on December 1, 1951 in Norristown, Pennsylvania. One of his first bands as a bassist was the Las Olas Brass, which he joined at the age of fifteen. Las Olas Brass was a nine-piece horn band that played well liked tunes by artists such as Aretha Franklin and James Brown. Kenny Neubauer, a bass player for the band, was planning to leave and Jaco saw this as a great opportunity to become the bands new bass player. Jaco became interested in bass music so he saved money, went to a local pawnshop, and bought a bass for fifteen dollars. He began practicing daily, for several hours. Later, he made an amplifier at shop class and attached headphones to it so that he would not upset anyone while he played. By the time he was sixteen he was one of the best bass players in South Florida. As the years passed he became better and was considered a musical genius by those who knew him. Arrowheads and Other Prehistoric Hunter Tools Arrowheads are the most easily identified type of archaeological artifact. Most people in the world recognize an arrowhead when they see one: It is a stone object which has been deliberately reshaped to be pointy on one end. Whether theyve personally collected them from nearby farmlands, seen them in museum displays, or just watched them being shot into people in old western movies, most people know the triangular tips of arrow shafts called arrowheads are the remnants of a prehistoric hunting trip, the spent shotgun shells of the past. But why do archaeologists insist on calling them projectile points?   Arrowheads versus Projectile Points Archaeologists typically call what regular people call arrowheads projectile points, not because it sounds more academic, but because the shape of a pointy stone does not necessarily categorize it as something that was used at the end of an arrow shaft. Projectile is more inclusive than arrow. Also, in our long human history, we have used a wide variety of materials to put sharp points on the ends of projectiles, including stone, wood, bone, antler, copper, plant parts, and other raw material types : Sometimes we just sharpened the end of a stick. The purposes of projectile points have always been both hunting and warfare, but the technology has varied a great deal over the ages. The technology that made the first stone points possible was invented by our distant ancestor Homo erectus in Africa during the later Acheulean period, circa 400,000–200,000 years ago. This technology involved knocking bits of stone off a hunk of rock to create a sharp point. Archaeologists call this early version of stone-making the Levallois technique or Levalloisian flaking industry. Middle Stone Age Innovations: Spear Points During the Mousterian period of the Middle Paleolithic beginning around 166,000 years ago, Levalloisian flake tools were refined by our Neanderthal cousins and became quite numerous. It is during this period that stone tools were probably first attached to spears. Spear points, then, are projectile points that were attached to the end of a long shaft  and used to help hunt big mammals for food, either by hurling the spear at the animal  or by thrusting it into the animal at close range. Solutrean Hunter-Gatherers: Dart Points A great leap in hunting technology was made by Homo sapiens and occurred during the Solutrean part of the Upper Paleolithic period, about 21,000 to 17,000 years ago. Known for great artistry in stone point production (including the delicate but effective willow leaf point), the Solutrean people are also probably responsible for the introduction of the atlatl or throwing stick. The atlatl is a sophisticated combination tool, formed out of a short dart shaft with a point socketed into a longer shaft. A leather strap hooked at the far end allowed the hunter to fling the atlatl over her shoulder, the pointed dart flying off in a deadly and accurate manner, from a safe distance. The sharp end of an atlatl is called a dart point. By the way, the word atlatl (pronounced either at-ul at-ul or aht-lah-tul) is the Aztec word for the throwing stick; when Spanish conquistador Hernan Cortes landed on the eastern shore of Mexico in the 16th century CE he was greeted by atlatl-wielding individuals. True Arrowheads: The Invention of the Bow and Arrow The bow and arrow, a rather more familiar technological innovation to fans of John Wayne movies, also dates at least to the Upper Paleolithic, but it likely predates atlatls. The earliest evidence is 65,000 years old. Archaeologists usually call these arrow points, when they recognize them. All three types of hunting, the spear, the atlatl, and the bow and arrow, are used today by sportsmen around the world, practicing what our ancestors used on a daily basis. Pepsi should focus on increasing sales globally to compete effectively with Coke. They have been beaten badly in some markets, and need to focus more on un-tapped areas. 2. Continue to diversify their beverage selection through acquisitions. This will enable PepsiCo to combat the decreased interest in cola. Going along with this, PepsiCo needs to ensure that they can properly manage all of these acquired companies and should divest those that show limited potential.
